Originally from the Carolina’s, Chris and his wife, Jill met at Appalachian State University, were married soon after graduation, and moved to Charleston SC nearly 30 years ago. They have raised two daughters on the water, spending time aboard boats and yachts of every size, both for pleasure and as a USCG Master captain. 

Chris began a teaching career in the 1990’s with the Charleston AMIKids program as Aquatics Instructor, and after earning a master’s in special education, went on to serve as a Regional Trainer for 14 programs, and eventually Executive Director of the Charleston program. 

After departing from AMIKids, and pursuing a 15 year career as a yacht broker, he was fortunate to “close the loop” and return in 2023 to use his skills and experience as a broker, and former AMIKids staff member to fundraise for the organization as a yacht donation facilitator.
